GUARDIANSHIP PROJECT

The Volunteer Legal Services Corporation of the Alameda County Bar Association (ACBA) operates a guardianship clinic. The clinic helps low-income Alameda County residents who wish to obtain probate guardianships. (A probate guardianship is a legal relationship in which a nonparent (e.g., a grandmother) is appointed by the courts to take care of a child. Guardianships are necessary when parents are unavailable or unable to care for their children.
